Mr. Clean Auto-dry Car Wash System

Claim: No need to dry your car since they use a Pur filter to filter impurities leaving no water spots. Guaranteed.

Update: I emailed this reveiw to the company that makes the Mr. Clean Auto-dry system. I expressed our concerns with the product removing paint but did not get a reply.
I purchased the product assuming it would fall short of it's claims because it was just too good to be true. Especially since I live in FL and the water here is terribly hard.
I used it on my black Ranger, very easy to see spots on black. I was somewhat surprised and impressed on the vertical sections of my truck, but as assumed it did not perform as advertised on the less-than-vertical sections. Water spots galore. Since I was expecting this, it wasn't that big of a deal.
During the wash I noticed my sponge, which was brand-spankin new, was turning black. Not dirty brown, but black. I didn't think anything major was wrong, but I did find it odd. I tried to wash it out when I was done but it was still black. I finished up and was reading thru forums and found this comment (paraphrased): "Be careful using the supplied soap cuz it can eat your paint."
Black truck, black sponge on went the lightbulb above my head. Given all of these things I can only deduce that the supplied soap did indeed eat away some of my finish.
I washed my stepmoms car with it (it had never been washed in the 2 years she's owned it..the hungry soap wouldn't matter) and there were FAR more water spots than even the worst spot on my truck. My theory is that the Pur filter, at least here in FL, is only "good" for one washing. This just isn't cost effective.
I have used Meguiars car wash in the Mr. Clean and it worked perfectly even tho it's a thick soap compared to the supplied soap. (Still have to dry because the soap doesn't effect the filter...)
Summary: If the filter works for you then just use a different/better soap and you should be fine. In my experience the soap ate away some of my paint and my truck is one thing I own you just don't mess with...
